OUR FINISHES
Our wood finishes offer a wide range of textures, shades, and finishes to personalize each board. We use both natural and reconstituted wood veneers, chosen for their aesthetics and consistency. Using reconstituted wood avoids the need to cut down rare species, reproducing their appearance without contributing to deforestation. Each species or pattern is carefully selected to enhance the shape and reflect the artisanal identity of each model.

All our finishes are applicable to all shapes: skateboard, cruiser, mini-cruiser, surfskate, longboard. They are applied using vacuum pressing, which allows for a harmonized, bubble-free bond. The varnishing phase allows the shine of the grain of each wood to be brought out.
PERSONALIZATION
Once the finishing veneer is added, and as with all Merlin Skateboards, you have the option to personalize your deck (first name, company logo, image, etc.). Laser engraving allows for a precise, aesthetic and durable result, but we also have other techniques.

THE ART OF FINISHING
At Merlin Skateboards, each board is designed as a unique object. Beyond shape, curve, and performance, visual identity plays an essential role. That's why we pay particular attention to the wood finishes that adorn our boards and give them character, elegance, and uniqueness.
We offer a selection of decorative veneers carefully chosen for their texture, color, and quality. These veneers, made from natural or engineered wood, are applied as a finish to the top or bottom of the boards. Each species is selected for its ability to enhance shapes, emphasize the lines of the shape, and reflect the artisanal spirit of each model.
Natural wood veneers offer authentic shades, unique grain patterns, and a warm, distinctive look specific to each species. They bring an organic, vibrant dimension to the board. In addition, we also use reconstituted veneers. This material is made from assembled and dyed wood fibers, allowing us to reproduce the visual appearance of rare species while ensuring a highly consistent appearance.
One of the major advantages of reconstituted wood is its reduced environmental impact. By faithfully reproducing the patterns and shades of precious woods, it avoids the cutting of rare species and contributes to the fight against deforestation. It is an ethical alternative, which combines aesthetics and ecological awareness, by enhancing the resources already extracted.
Each wood finish is carefully applied in our workshop. The veneer is cut, trimmed, and vacuum-pressed, then integrated into the board manufacturing process. This craftsmanship results in a clean, durable finish that's consistent with the brand's overall aesthetic.
