TIME IN THE BOARD

Each clock is cut, sanded, and assembled by hand from a skateboard deck from the Merlin Skateboards workshop. It's not an object made for riding, but a fragment of material diverted from its original use to mark time. A simple and precise transformation, where Canadian maple becomes a dial.

The wood used isn't reclaimed from used boards, but rather from scraps and excess manufacturing waste. These pieces, while perfectly solid and aesthetically pleasing, weren't intended to become full-size skateboards. Instead of being discarded, they're reinterpreted with a focus on responsible creation and local upcycling.

Each clock is unique. The colored layers of maple—bright or natural shades depending on the series—form circles with graphic lines, often irregular, always expressive. Carefully sanded, then oiled or varnished depending on the finish, the surface retains the traces of the wood and the imprint of its original construction.

The clockwork is discreet, precise, and silent. It fades into the background in favor of the material, which remains at the heart of the object. The clock can be hung or placed, depending on the model. In all cases, it functions as an object of rhythm, but also as a sculpted form, somewhere between raw design and artisanal touches.

These pieces are made in the workshop in France, respecting artisanal know-how. Nothing is produced on a large scale: each clock passes through the shaper's hands, with the same care as a board. The idea is always the same: make do with what's left, enhance what was left over, and invent a new use without betraying the material.

To offer or treat yourself to a recycled skateboard clock is to bring into your home a fragment of sliding, of wood, of gesture. It's to slow down the pace a little, to let the curves live, and to let time be marked on a medium born to move.
