UPCYCLED MAGNETS: A SECOND LIFE FOR SKATEBOARDS

These magnets are made from leftover skateboard wood, reused and transformed in the Merlin Skateboards workshop. The goal is to give a second life to a solid and colorful material from handcrafted skateboard production by turning it into practical and decorative everyday objects.

The wood used is Canadian maple — the same material used to make skateboards. Strong yet lightweight, it is cut and hand-shaped into a unique base. Each piece retains traces of its past: colorful layers, irregular lines, natural tones. Nothing artificial is added — every magnet reflects the identity of the board it came from.

The colors come directly from the laminated layers used in skateboard construction. They create varied patterns: sometimes bright and contrasting, sometimes subtle and understated. Each magnet is therefore unique and impossible to reproduce exactly. This singularity makes every piece both functional and visually distinctive.

The shapes are deliberately simple — squares, circles, rectangles, or more organic forms depending on the scrap of wood used. After cutting, each piece is carefully sanded and protected with a natural finish before being fitted with a strong magnet on the back. The result is a functional and durable accessory that holds firmly to any metal surface.

These magnets are part of a responsible production approach. By transforming skateboard offcuts that would otherwise be discarded, they reduce waste and extend the lifespan of a quality material. They are made in France, in an artisanal workshop, with special attention given to detail and finish.

They fit easily into everyday life — on a refrigerator, magnetic board, metal cabinet, or any suitable surface. They can hold photos, notes, lists, or simply add a touch of color and originality to your space.

In short, these upcycled skateboard magnets are more than simple accessories. They represent a creative and sustainable way to repurpose a sturdy and beautiful material while bringing a unique touch to your home. Each piece is different, handmade, and built to last — a small, simple, and responsible object that carries both a story and a commitment.
