RECYCLED SKATEBOARD COASTERS
The coasters are handmade from scraps of skateboards from the artisanal manufacturing process in the Merlin Skateboards workshop. Small sizes, great care: each piece is the result of a careful selection of materials, precise sanding, and a desire to give this exceptional wood a second life.
This isn't about recycling used skateboards, but rather transforming production waste, often too small or irregular to become boards, but beautiful enough to deserve a new function. This wood, Canadian maple, was designed to withstand shocks, pressure, and intensive use. Its natural robustness makes it an ideal base for everyday objects.
Each coaster is a unique piece, crafted from these glued layers, sometimes stained, sometimes left raw. The wood's design varies with each cut: vivid lines, contrasting hues, soft veins—all details that transform a simple accessory into a graphic and tactile object. The surface is carefully sanded, protected with a natural, water-resistant finish, and designed to last.
It's a discreet, yet significant object. It finds its place in a kitchen, on a desk, a coffee table, and reminds us, by its modest presence, that it is possible to make beautiful things with little, provided we put in time and care. Each coaster embodies an attention paid to the material, to recycling, to the simplicity of the gesture.
Made in France, these coasters extend the workshop's universe: a human-scale, respectful work, rooted in the concrete object. In their own way, they reflect the values of skateboarding: rigor, precision, economy of means, and attention to detail.
Practical, durable, unique - these coasters don't seek to be noticed, but to inhabit everyday life with precision, by slipping in a little wood grain, a little faded color, and the memory of a workshop that makes everything, even its scraps, with the same high standards.
